Words on Wylie
Common Good Atlanta students and Morehouse students joined forces with the Cabbagetown community to celebrate and expand the reach of Forward Warrior!, the stunning half-mile mural wall along Wylie Street. Under the guidance of CGA site director Hope Hilton, Morehouse students wrote and recorded audio descriptions of the murals to make them accessible to the visually impaired, while CGA students crafted original poems inspired by the artwork.
At a special event on Saturday, February 15, three student poems were performed at the Cabbagetown Community Center—brought to life by a student’s sister, a student’s mother, and CGA alumnus Curtis Steele. Curtis was honored with the Most Authentic Voice award for his powerful contribution.
We are excited for future collaborations and deeply grateful to John Dirga for making this all possible.
